Our 2021 Spring/Summer collection bears the name of one of the most popular destinations in Greece, the idyllic Santorini. Celebrated for what is arguably the most beautiful sunset in the world, the volcanic island hides a wealth of lesser-known treasures, amongst which the frescoes of Akrotiri, a Cycladic Bronze Age settlement. Even though the site itself is much older, with its history going back to the fifth millennium BC, the surviving frescoes are some of the most important samples of Minoan art, dating around 1700 BC. But why look for inspiration in art that is already thousands of years old? How is the latter still relevant in the context of fashion design in 2021?
The answer is inextricably tied to another question, that of the difference between fast fashion and fashion as a form of art. Whereas many companies seek to predict what will be in vogue each year, Reveal Eleven attempts to capture the very essence of beauty in its apparel, a beauty that is inherently timeless. We have infused our latest collection with the proportions, patterns and colors that make the Akrotiri frescoes as graceful today as when they were first fashioned, the same perennial qualities every work of art tries to capture and is in turn a manifestation of. Welcome to the world of fashion as art. Welcome to the Reveal Eleven Spring/Summer 2021 Santorini collection.
